Astrology & Geometry: Virgos are considered to be diligent, perfectionist, methodical and meticulous. Virgo is the sixth house of the Western Zodiac, associated with work, service and routine. The sixth house is represented by the hexagonal shapes and six-pointed spider web.

Zoology: Most species of spider construct intricate webs suspended in the air to catch their prey. Their survival is dependent on their ability to select a location, craft an effective web, and patiently wait for the prey to arrive. Depicted in this painting is the crowned orb weaver spider.

Mythology: The spiders’ creation of webs is similar to human creation of fiber crafts such as weaving, spinning, and constructing baskets & fishing nets. Across every continent, spiders appear in mythology as creators of worlds, weavers of destiny, crafters, and tricksters.

Botany: The maple tree exists across North America, Asia and Europe. Maple wood is sought after for the construction of musical instruments due to it’s ability to carry sound waves. It’s frequently used in recreational sporting equipment such as pool cues and archery bows, and in decorative wood-working for it’s attractive wood grain. Maple trees support a lot of creative and enjoyable activities, and they create their own beautiful art with splendorous color changes in the autumn.
