Astrology & Geometry: Capricorns are thought to be ambitious, hard-working, frugal, methodical, and cautious. Capricorn is the tenth house of the Western Zodiac, associated with achievement, recognition, and status. The tenth house is represented by the two five-pointed stars and decagons in the painting.
Oak is a sign in Celtic Tree Astrology for those born June 10- July 7.

Zoology: Squirrels are known for storing caches of nuts in the autumn so they have food to eat in the cold winter months when food would be scarce. This process is so commonly known that the term “squirreling away” is applied to humans who save resources for later. Recent scientific studies have confirmed that squirrels not only store their food for later consumption, but have elaborate systems for sorting and storing food based on size, type and nutritional value to help them remember where the food is stored.

Folklore: Squirrels are native to all continents except Antarctica and appear in the Hindu Ramayana, Ratatoskr in Norse tales of Yggdrasil the world tree, and the Celtic goddess Medb was often represented with a squirrel perched on her shoulder.

Botany: Oak trees are slow-growing and made of wood that is very sturdy and dense. Some of the oldest living trees are oaks, including the Jurupa oak colony in California comprised of genetic clones of oak trees that have collectively lived at least 13,000 years.
