Zoology: The Western Fence Lizard is found throughout western America. It is capable of caudal autotomy in which it can detach its tail when threatened and later regenerate a new tail. This species also carries a remarkable protein in its blood. When a tick with Lyme disease feeds on the blood of a Western Fence Lizard, the protein is ingested by the tick and it cures it of the Lyme disease.*
