Astrology & Geometry: Capricorns are thought to be ambitious, hard-working, status-oriented, and determined. Capricorn is the 10th house of the Western Zodiac, associated with achievement, recognition, and status. Beneath the feet of the rooster is a series of polygons, the center shape has 10 sides and each outer shape decreases its number of sides until it ends in a single line.

The Rooster is the 10th sign of the Eastern zodiac, applying to those born in 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005 & 2017.

Folklore: Chickens have been considered sacred animals since ancient times in Indonesia, Greece, Egypt and Persia. The ancient Roman oracles observed the behavior of chickens to tell the future. The term “cockiness” originated from the rooster’s ostentatious and assertive behavior, and its inclination to crow as the sun rises has made it a symbol of beginnings and motivation in many cultures.

Herbalism & Permaculture: Also known as marjoram, oregano has been used in commercial chicken farms as a natural anti-biotic and anti-fungal. A clinical study done in Egypt indicated that adding oregano to the diets of chicken flocks increased their egg mass and production.*
