Julia Y began her life sharing a birthday with
Mary Shelley and Robert Crumb, and and has since
grown to develop a style of visual art and storytelling
that exists somewhere between the two.
On her 18th birthday, she began her schooling at
OTIS College of Art and Design. She attended with a full
scholarship and received her BFA in Illustration in 2003.
On her 24th birthday, she began her first day of teaching at Golden West College. In the midst of all of her
birthdays, she has been working in a wide variety
of artistic jobs, including: album cover art, digital and
traditional illustration, graphic design for print and web, photo retouching, animation, costume design, and graphics and technical
flats for fashion. She has also been involved in sideshow
and circus performance art and been a touring musician.
After being born & raised in Southern California,
Julia relocated to Seattle in 2008.
She currently spends
her time freelancing and
creating visual narratives, crafts,
and
any
other
forms of Art
that strike her fancy.
